Over these last 8 months I have done a TON of shopping both online and in-store to find maternity dresses that aren’t necessarily marketed as ‘maternity’ but dresses that work during pregnancy! I wanted to be able to wear these dresses after pregnancy. In this post, I narrowed it down to 9 of my favorite dresses that I have come to love!
These are not in any particular order because I feel that they all compare very well together and can be worn for different occasions throughout 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester!
If you are not into having maternity dresses I have a post that I talk about my top jeans, leggings, and tights that I have had throughout pregnancy too! You can find that here–> Top 5 Maternity Jeans, Leggings, Tights
TIP: All these dresses can be worn at any point during your pregnancy so – don’t hesitate to get them early! They expand nicely to accommodate your growing bump. I will also provide sizes I’m wearing and what week I am in the photo to help gauge the amount of stretch!
All dresses (except the maroon dress) still fit at 37 weeks.
Cozy Sweater Dress
This oversized turtleneck sweater dress is an online order thus, I did not know what I was going to get in the mail when it came in! I was worried that it was going to be an itchy knit dress with a very tight weave but in fact – it was all opposite! The fabric is extremely soft and stretches a ton!
It currently comes in 17 colors and comes in XS-XL. Looking back – it has so much stretch I could have gotten away with an XS. However, I like the oversize fit of it because sometimes it’s nice to not have something so skin tight! Short Sleeve Maternity Bodycon Dress
I wore this dress for my first baby shower and wanted something that was shorter because I am short (5’2). I also did not want anything too fuzzy because we were having our shower outside at a park. Lastly, I was looking for a dress that resembled a little bit of a leaf and floral aspect because we were having a woodland baby shower so I wanted it to go with our theme!
I was extremely surprised when this came in because the fabric was SO SOFT. Both this dress and the previous dress have Viscose in it which is the reason for this softness. The other nice thing about this dress is that it’s bodycon without being a ‘sexy’ bodycon dress. For a baby shower it’s nice to show off your belly in a classy way! It is marketed as ‘maternity’ but, I think this dress could definitely be worn after baby comes too!

Sleeveless Bodycon Dress
So, these 3 are actually all the same just in different colors because I was very happy about this style I just couldn’t resist! If I could have bought other colors and sleeve lengths I would have but I didn’t because I thought I should have variety in my closet. haha.
This is a dress that is not marketed as a maternity dress which I love because I can wear them after pregnancy and they will still fit nicely. The sleeveless comes in 13 different colors from XS-XL. The Missufe brand has several different lengths and styles but I thought this one was the best because I could layer it with sweaters, t-shirts, jackets and not be hot!
I also love the fact that it’s cotton so its very comfy and the styling detail at the thigh makes it very trendy without being too sexy. It is a shorter style but I never thought it was too short. The white dress is a smidge see-through so just keep that in mind when choosing undergarments. I have on a white nursing bra and nude spank shorts in my image above.

Off-The-Shoulder Velvet Maternity Dress
This was a dress that I was considering wearing for one of my baby showers but decided that I wanted something a little bit more casual. The velvet, off-the-shoulder part really ups the fanciness of this dress! When it came in I was obsessed with the fabric and color. Unfortunately, because of the fabric it does not give as much as you’d like it too. Thus, I would not be able to put this on now at 37 weeks.
However, If you are looking for a dress around your baby shower for a more upscale gathering and don’t plan to wear it throughout pregnancy, this is a great option! My Bump also has this in several different colors/silhouettes and comes in S-XL.

Flirty Shift Dress
OK, what a cute flirty dress this is!! I love this one and was extremely surprised to find out that it still fits at 37 weeks! The bust area is a little snug but theres no strain on the bump area! I was worried that it would come in with a lining and been too difficult to wear for pregnancy but I was 100% wrong! No lining and no problem with bump. I like that it isn’t knit so that I could have some variety in my closest!
It comes in 5 colors from S-XXL. This dress is a perfect transition dress from summer to fall or from spring to summer. To see additional images check out this post –> Versatile Flirty Fit & Flare Dress

Rib Knit Shift Dress
This perfect fall copper dress is the only dress I’m writing about that was an in-store purchase and NOT marketed maternity. It is a little harder to write about options that are in-store because they may not be available when you read this post. But, this one I have to talk about because I hope they bring it back annually!
I purchased this at Old Navy on a spur of the moment shopping day. I was looking for something for baby not for me but fell upon it anyway. It is an XS rib knit dress! Yes, XS! When I found it I didn’t see the normal size S that I have been buying and I did not want to do a bigger size because the odds of me being able to wear it after baby were slim. So, I bought the XS and told myself I’d just return it if it didn’t work.
When I tried it on it felt perfect! Very soft, stretchy fabric and I’m obsessed with this color! I almost went and bought the black one too! I love the length and side slits of this dress too. See additional images in this post–> The Perfect Transitional Rib Knit Shift Dress

Long Sleeve Off-The-Shoulder Maternity Bodycon Dress
Alright – I may have done this on purpose but, I saved the best for last! I wore this dress for our Maternity Photoshoot. I purchased a different off-the-shoulder dress that was a floor length but, being 5’2 it just didn’t work for me. The fact that the photos I wanted were going to be thigh up made me think that there was no point in getting a long dress if you weren’t going to even see it.
This dress qualifies as my favorite because of two things: the fabric and no lines. The first dress felt fine but it didn’t feel as smooth and silky as this one. Also, the first dress had a line that cut right at or below the chest making my boobs look a little deformed. This dress there were no lines so it was very smooth and hugged the curves perfectly!
If I had anything bad to say about this dress, it would be that I wish the arms weren’t so long. In my photoshoot I kept having to make sure they weren’t covering my hands. But it wasn’t a make or break by any means! You can check out all my maternity photos in this post –> Studio Maternity Photos

In Conclusion
Overall, I am really happy with all the maternity dresses that I’ve had throughout this pregnancy. I honestly didn’t know what to expect when it came to how to shop for a maternity wardrobe but I think all of these dresses really made me feel comfortable and feel pretty during this ever changing time in my life!
