I like to tell myself that I’m going to switch up my makeup routine and try out different mascaras, foundations or blushes but for some reason I tend to always come back to my staple go-to products. Definitely not saying that other ones aren’t amazing – the human nature is to go with what you are familiar with and I’m a sucker for that!
Recently, I decided that I wanted to put together a quick makeup video of a This Look series for y’all and what products I used to get there! (see video below) Today, I’m going to show you one of my more chill looks. I also got in a new top from Amazon that I am completely obsessed with! See that post here.
Btw – my mom works for Ulta Beauty so I get to try several different brands of various things which is why I feel like I’ve tried so many products!
MOISTURIZER
I have a feeling one of my next posts is going to be about Caudalie because let me tell you – this brand is definitely in my top 2 brands. I mean, who can say no to grape water? I’m sure not a ton of people have heard of Caudalie but you can find it on Amazon which is amazing. This moisturizer is so silky smooth, soft and has the best smell ever!
PRIMER
Recently I’ve started to use two primers; one for my face (before foundation) and another one for my eyes (before eye shadow). I’ve used this Too Faced eye primer for as long as I can remember! It is smooth, soft and lasts a really long time. I started trying the bareMinerals face primer about 3 or 4 months ago and have fallin’ in love with it because its a gel and feels as if you aren’t putting on anything at all. It’s amazing.
Tip: With either primer, you don’t need a lot as the product goes a long way.
CONCEALER
In my opinion – you can’t go wrong with a Too Faced makeup product. The concealer I use has literally lasted me forever – the product just goes so far! It comes in various colors too!
FOUNDATION
This is another part of my routine that I use two versions of. I rarely used to do this in my college years but once my mom started gifting me product – I started to try/test out various things. My go to foundation is the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue. The one thing I found about this is that it is a very dewy foundation and can leave your face very wet. I didn’t notice this as much when I first started using it. It was only when I was testing out other products that I found that it left that ‘look’ on my face.
Then, I came across the IT Foundation. After switching a bunch of times between foundations. I realized what I enjoyed was the smoothness that the Bare Minerals product provided but the matte look I got from the IT Foundation. So, now I use both 🙂 Because, why not.
Also – I use two different brushes, THIS ONE for my bareMinerals Foundation and THIS ONE for my IT Foundation.
EYE SHADOW, EYEBROWS, & EYELASHES
I gotta tell ya – Too Faced is my other favorite brand some might begin to think this is sponsored but – it’s not. I just cannot get over how cool their product is; super unique and fun! Today, I decided I was going to bust out my Peach Eye Shadow Palette because I wanted a more chill look. Also – it really does smell like peaches!
For my eyebrows, I’ve always used Benefit because it goes on so smoothly. I haven’t gotten my eyebrows done in a really long while due to Covid but – the entire Benefit brow line really helps for keeping them look ‘put together’!
My favorite part of makeup: Mascara. If ever I leave home and don’t feel like having a ‘full look’ I will without a doubt always have mascara on! Now, I’ve tried a TON of mascaras left and right and I have never enjoyed one more than Too Faced, Better Than Sex Mascara. I cannot stress enough how amazing this product is. Even better if you get THIS WATERPROOF version.
BLUSH & GLITTER POWDER
Blush is another piece of my daily routine where if I don’t wear it I feel like my look is never complete. I love the subtle beauty it brings out. I used to be obsessed with this heart palette my mom gifted me for Valentines day one year but I end up using it all and of course it doesn’t sell anymore – so! Then, I started using this blush and the two tones it has with a hint of glitter is goregous!
If you haven’t noticed already I love glitter!! I can’t honestly say I’m a super girly girl but when it comes to glitter – I want it all. So you know I had to give this Urban Decay Glitter powder a go because – we all need a little glitter in our lives.
LIPS
Lipsticks, balms, lipglosses – I get pretty particular when it comes to this area. I hate it when whatever I have on my lips gets taken off by drinking, eating, kissing or even the accidental rubbing of my hand on my face. Perhaps I’ll do a whole post on lipstick one day. Today, I decided to bring out my Tarte matte lipstick – I’m wearing a fancy colored shirt so I didn’t want my lips (or eyes for that matter) to be too intense!
